# Perfection --- As the Zen monk [[Shunryu Suzuki]] intimated, one's own perfection is both true at a moment in time, and yet an ongoing process: > [[“Each of you is perfect the way you are ... and you can use a little improvement.”]] An invitation like this invites us to have love for ourselves, to hold the two — the present and the future; contentment and aspiration; self-love and self-improvement — at the same time. At the one time, [[Do everything you do impeccably, as though this single action had to stand the test of time.]] However, at the same time, [[The goal is progress over perfection.]] [[Aim for excellence, not perfection.]] In any case, [[Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough.]] [[Don’t strive for perfection. Aim for consistency.]] [[Declutter your life and ditch perfectionism.]] And don’t let aiming to be perfect get in the way of acting authentically to yourself. [[It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life perfectly.]] %% --- # Reference ```dataview list from [[]] or #perfection and !outgoing([[]]) and -"Templates" where file.name != this.file.name sort file.name ASC ``` --- # Archive - %%
